Budget Approved For Hiawatha USD 415
07/24/2014

(KNZA)--A mill levy reduction is included in the budget approved for publication by the Board of Education for Hiawatha's USD 415.
Superintendent Penny Hargrove says that happened during a special meeting held Thursday morning. “We are not going to have to raise our mills any. We're actually going to give back 1.901. Part of the relief came from some of the state aid, equalization aid. We were able to balance our budget and make it something that will be extremely tight, but workable.”
The total included mill levy stands at 51.661. That's down from last year's 52.562.
Based on current, higher property valuations, the total taxes levied by the district will be $4.482 million, as compared to last year's $4.355 million.
The total budget approved for publication checks in at $14.7 million dollars.
A public hearing, prior to final approval, is scheduled for August 11th.
