(MSC News)--A Wathena woman is injured when struck by a pick-up truck while walking, and the driver behind the wheel is facing criminal charges in connection with the incident.
According to the Kansas Chief, 38-year-old Dee Anna Kelley was walking as her young daughter bicycled beside her in the Blair area on the evening of July 14th.
It was at that time that authorities say Kelley was struck by the truck driven by 49-year-old Dean Cochran, of Wathena.
Kelley was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri for treatment of her injuries.
Cochran was arrested on charges including a felony charge of aggravated battery along with DUI, and the unlawful transportation of an open container.
He made his first appearance in a Doniphan County courtroom last week without an attorney.
His cash only bond was continued at $25,000.
