(KNZA)--A Thursday afternoon single vehicle Brown County crash sends a Hiawatha woman to the hospital.
Brown County interim Undersheriff Randy Linck says it happened shortly before 1:00 when 34-year-old Lindsey Shannon was northbound on Goldfinch road, just south of 270th Road, when her vehicle left the roadway.
It went into the ditch, traveled a short distance, and then smashed into a concrete culvert.
Rescue crews arrived on the scene and removed Shannon from the vehicle.
Suffering head and chest injuries along with a broken leg, she was transported by Town and Country EMS to the Hiawatha Community Hospital, but later flown by Lifenet to a Kansas City hospital for further treatment.
