Auburn Council OKs Sewer Work
07/16/2014

(KTNC)--A sewer repair project in Auburn will cost less than originally thought. The Auburn City Council approved work on the sewer on 9th Street Monday night.
The project involves replacing pipes and slip-lining some pipes. The work was originally projected to cost about $150,000, but Mayor Scott Kudrna says the city will be able to do the project for $110,000.
Mayor Kudrna says a problem developed after the city’s new water plant was built. The ground settled where the water plant went, causing the sewer line to drop about a foot.
The council also took action Monday on a couple nuisance properties. They approved a resolution to sell the vacant lots at 1217 and 1221 9th Street, where the city had razed a condemned house.
The city also reached an agreement with that will allow the city to demolish and foreclose on a property south of the high-rise that’s been vacant for several years.
The Highway 136 project is moving along through Auburn. The Department of Roads has started work in the south, or eastbound, lane of 136. Local traffic only is allowed in the westbound lane and trucks are still prohibited from driving on Highway 136 through Auburn.
