Cooper Nuclear Station Turns Forty

(KLZA)--The 40TH anniversary of the Cooper Nuclear Station was marked Wednesday, as employees and their families recognized the occasion during a safety fair. 

The event was held to commemorate the nuclear station’s 40 years of safe, reliable operation for Nebraska. 

Over the past 15 years, NPPD has invested more than $500 million in upgrades to the station’s operations and safety systems. By comparison, the original construction cost of CNS was $313 million.

The Cooper Nuclear Station officially began operations on July 1st, 1974 in Brownville, Nebraska.
