Nemaha Co Commission Approves Funding Request

(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has approved a funding request from the  NEK-CAP Head Start program.  

Carol Bergman and Whitney Niehues came before the Commission Monday on behalf of the Head Start program to request just over $13,000 from the Broxterman Estate Funds for the purchase of handicapped accessible playground equipment for the children in their program.

The new equipment will be installed in their playground at the county’s Pioneer Building where the Head Start program is located.   The equipment is to be installed before Head Start classes begin in September.

 In other business, County Road and Bridge Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum informed commissioners he knows of used Sky-Track forklift for sale.  Following discussed, the commission agreed to purchase the forklift for county use at a cost of $24,000.  Plans are to use the forklift in the construction of the new county jail addition, and sell it later if there is no other need for it

And the Commission approved the appointment of Jennifer Nagley to the Kanza Mental Health and Guidance Center Board of Directors.
