(KNZA)--A resurfacing project has begun on a 16 mile stretch of K-16 Highway from the U.S. 59 intersection in Jefferson County to the U.S. 24 junction in Leavenworth County.
Beginning today ( Friday, June 13th ) through next Friday, crews will first complete pavement patching work, weather allowing. Once the patching work is complete, crews will then begin the mill and overlay work on the highway.
Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via a flagger and pilot car operation. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes maximum and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.
Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.
Topeka-based Bettis Asphalt and Construction, Inc. is primary contractor on the nearly $1.2 million project. The entire project is to be completed in late July, weather allowing.
