(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Board of Education approved motions to purchase computers and to increase the pay rate for substitute teachers during its regular May meeting.
The board approved a quote from Apple to purchase 52 laptop computers for students and 13 laptops for faculty at a price of $73,807. The board approved another motion to use Title One funds to purchase three iPads and covers for Title One.
Substitute teachers in Pawnee City will earn a little more next year, after the School Board approve an increase in the pay rate to $110 per day. That is available for half days, three-quarter days, or full days.
The board also approved a recommendation to hire Allison Zwygart and Pam Mitchell to teach in the Elementary School. They approved a motion to increase the Elementary Special Education staff from the current one full-time to one-and-a-half full-time equivalent.
And the board accepted, with regret, the resignation of Spanish teacher Kevin Mohr.
