(KLZA) -- A split vote of the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer School Board Monday night, will result in no pay raise for approximately 35 classified staff members in the HTRS school district.
A pay raise of 2.44 percent had been proposed that would have been for bus drivers, cooks, custodians, office assistants and para educators. Voting against the salary increase were board members Rock Herr, Sandy Stalder and Steve Schaardt Voting in favor of the salary bump was board members Neal Kanel, Mike Bredemeier and Scott Ogle.
The HTRS School District is now accepting bids for an addition to the north side of the school building in Humboldt. Bids will be opened at 2 p-m June 19th in the Music Room at the Humboldt School building.
What was potentially the hardest part of starting an Ag Program and FFA Chapter at HTRS has been settled. The Board approved the hiring of Trent Platt from Bern, Kansas to be the instructor. Platt previously was the Ag Teacher and FFA sponsor at the Bern School District. This will mean HTRS will have ag classes and an FFA program starting with the 2014-15 school year.
Board member also approved spending $39,773 from the depreciation fund with Prime Communications for phase I of a project that will result in new phones, door lock systems and security camera’s for the HTRS district. The project is to be done in three phases.
Prices for breakfast and lunch for the next school year will increase a nickel across the board. Expenses of $56,513 for the Humboldt site and $31,514 for the Table Rock site for various school supplies for the 2014-15 school year were approved by HTRS Board.
