(KLZA) -- A Bone Marrow Drive is being conducted May 12th at the Grand Weaver Hotel in the 1800 block of Stone Street in Falls City.
Own Your Legacy is sponsoring the bone marrow drive in honor of Ron Kirkendall of Falls City who was awarded the Admiral E.R. Zumald award for his leadership efforts leading a large bone marrow drive 16 years ago when he daughter Michelle Kirkendall Peterson was diagnosed with Leukemia. Recently Ron Kirkendall was also diagnosed with a form of Leukemia and is currently receiving outpatient treatment at the Southeast Cancer Center in Lincoln
Today’s event will go on until 3 p-m at the Grand Weaver Hotel.
Finding successful matches for bone marrow is difficult with only about one in a thousand being a match.
