(KAIR)--Details have been released on a single-vehicle rollover wreck in Atchison County that sent a rural mail carrier to the hospital.
According to Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, the wreck happened on Jewell Road shortly after 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.
Laurie says 62-year-old rural Atchison resident Betty Shade was traveling southbound when she became distracted and lost control of her 2002 Ford Explorer. The vehicle left the road on the right side, and ended up in a ravine where it collided with the bank and rolled back into the creek before coming to a rest on its roof.
Shade managed to free herself from the vehicle and was able to flag down a passing motorist, who transported her to the Atchison hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. She was later transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph for further treatment.
