(KTNC) --  The founder and former chief marketing officer of the world’s first peer-to-peer micro-lending website will speak at Peru State College Monday. Jessica Jackley’s presentation, titled Love, Money, Work: Social Entrepreneurship as a Career, is part of the college’s Distinguished Speaker Series.
Jackley founded KIVA in 2005. KIVA lest users lend as little as $25 to poor entrepreneurs around the world, providing affordable capital for them to start or expand businesses. Since it was founded, KIVA has loaned more than $400 million to entrepreneurs in 206 countries.
Jackley is currently a venture partner with the Collaborative Fund and is a visiting practitioner at Stanford University’s Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society. Forbes Magazine recently named her one of five rising stars in healthcare, education and the environment.
Jackley’s presentation will be held in the College Theatre, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Monday. It is free and open to the public.
