(KLZA) -- Pawnee County Commissioners opened bids on four culvert projects when they met Tuesday. Bids for the projects ranged from a low bid of $231,104 to more than $610,000. The bid to complete the four culvert projects was awarded to Gyhra Construction of Pawnee City contingent on approval from Mainelli & Wagner. The Gyhra bid was $231,104 with a start date of June 2nd.
Following a review of findings by Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner for closing a half-mile section of 614 Avenue between sections 32 and 33, Commissioners set a public hearing on closing the stretch of road for April 29th at 10:30 a-m.
Emergency Manager Clint Strayhorn discussed an Interlocal 9-1-1 agreement, Red Cross contracts and an emergency exercise scheduled for Wednesday, April 23rd. The Board voted to approve an interlocal cooperation agreement for Southeast Region 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Study.
An executive session was held with Highway Superintendent Rauner to discuss personnel. No action was taken during the one hour 40 minute session. Following the session Commissioners approved increasing the salary for Highway Superintendent Rauner by $3,500 immediately with a $1,500 raise, starting January 1, 2015 for receiving a Class A Highway Superintendent license.
The Southeast Nebraska Community Action annual report was submitted, 732 meals were served in March and the number of bus riders has improved since 2012. Commissioners approved a motion to declare May as Community Action Month in Pawnee County.
Correspondence was reviewed from the State Department of Roads concerning road construction tentatively scheduled to begin August 11th at the wet junction of Highways 4 and 50 north to Tecumseh.
Approval was given for use of the Courthouse grounds for an East Egg Hunt April 19th and for use of the Courthouse lawn and lower level of the Courthouse building for the Harvest Bash on October 11th.
