(KAIR)--An Atchison man will serve time in jail for trying to flee law enforcement officials earlier this year.
43-year-old Steven Bowen appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon for sentencing. Bowen requested probation, stating that he is seeking help for his drug addiction, and is working through some personal issues.
Judge Martin Asher sentenced Bowen to thirty days in jail followed by twelve months of probation. Bowen asked to start his incarceration next week so he would have time to get his affairs in order. Asher denied the request.
Bowen led officials on a vehicle chase on US 73 Highway and into Doniphan County in February. He was charged with fleeing law enforcement as well as several other traffic related charges.
