(KTNC) -- Add Holt County to the growing list of area counties to impose a ban on open burning.
The Holt County Commission put the burn ban in place Monday. It is effective immediately and until further notice.
Controlled burning will be allowed with prior notice and approval of the fire chief in the area where the burn is planned.
County commissions in Brown and Doniphan Counties have also imposed burning bans due to the dry conditions.
