(KAIR)--The 2014 tax filing deadline is only a few weeks away, but a good number of Kansas residents have already filed their federal returns.
According to a release from the Internal Revenue Service, more than 589,000 federal tax returns from Kansas have been electronically filed through March 7th. More than 266,000 of those were filed from a home computer, which is up seven percent from last year.
Nationwide,approximately 100-million individuals and families who earned $58,000 or less last year can use brand-name tax software to prepare and file their federal tax return for free. Free file is only available through the IRS website; www.irs.gov
