(KNZA)--A 25-year-old rural Troy man will stand trial on charges in the August shooting death of another man.
Following the conclusion of his preliminary hearing Wednesday, Eric Burge was bound over to Doniphan County District Court on charges contained in an amended complaint of second-degree murder--including a lesser offense of involuntary manslaughter-- and felony criminal discharge of a firearm. In addition, Burge faces a misdemeanor charge of hosting minors in consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Arraignment was scheduled for March 26th before District Judge Jim Patton.
Burge is charged in the shooting death of Matthew Sollars. Sollars died August 13th, one day after the shooting at a rural residence southwest of Troy.
Burge was arrested in October following an investigation by the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
He remains in the Doniphan County Jail on $500,000 bond.
