(KAIR)--Representative Lynn Jenkins simply wants fairness. The Republican legislator representing Kansas' second district introduced a bill on the house floor Wednesday that would extend the exemptions the President has granted to big businesses who have not yet enrolled in “ObamaCare”, to every individual American. Jenkins says the President has not acted fairly when granting these exemptions saying that he has now acted unilaterally on two separate occasions to give big business relief from this tax burden. However, he has not leveled the playing field for the millions of individuals and families who are forced to comply with the individual mandate tax.
Jenkins adds that on top of this, American families have been forced to deal with a botched roll-out of healthcare.gov, the website provided to enroll in the required health insurance. She says this has lead to confusion and frustration for these individuals who are trying to comply with the law. She says this is evident that only four million Americans have enrolled in health care coverage using the website. So with less than a month to go in this initial enrollment period, the government is still about three million people short of their projections.
The bill would eliminate implementation of the individual mandate penalty for one year.
Jenkins says that it is only fair that hardworking Americans are given the same treatment as businesses.
The House passed the bill 250-160.
