03/06/2014

Dustin Mather

(KNZA)--The preliminary hearing for a former Brown County law enforcement officer facing felony aggravated battery charges has been postponed again.

The hearing for Dustin Mather, of Olathe, was continued Wednesday in a Brown Court courtroom to April 30th at the request of the Kansas Attorney General’s office, which is prosecuting the case.

Mather was arrested in November on a Brown County warrant for two counts of aggravated battery.

He’s accused of intentionally causing bodily harm to the same individual on two occasions--February 25th and March 5th of last year.  The victim is identified only in court documents by the initials S.M.

Mather is a former officer with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Hiawatha Police Department and Kickapoo Tribal Police Department.

He remains free on $50,000 bond.
