(MSC News)--A van crashes through the Wathena Pizza Hut, sending the driver to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The crash occurred shortly after 1:30 Friday afternoon at the restaurant located on the west side of the Doniphan County town, located along U.S. Highway 36.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Leavenworth resident Richard Lutgen was eastbound on U.S. 36 when his van drifted across the westbound lane into a ditch, vaulted across the Pizza Hut parking lot, and into the building.
Lutgen was transported from the scene by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
According to KQ2-TV, a firefighter on the scene says Lutgen was talking after the crash, but seemed confused and did not remember what happened, having apparently suffered an unknown medical problem.
No one inside the restaurant was hurt.
