(KAIR)--Plans are now in place to honor former Atchison County educator and coach Jim Maendele.
According to Atchison County Community High School Principal Deanna Scherer, the recognition ceremony to place Maendele's name on the school's Wall of Fame will take place around 7:30 Monday evening between the boys and girls varsity basketball games.
Maendele was recently recommended for the honor to the Junior/Senior High Site County by ACCHS graduate Dan Brenner. The Council approved the recommendation and forwarded it to the USD 377 School Board, who approved it unanimously.
Maendele says he is humbled by the recognition, and feels fortunate to have worked with the kids he did during his years teaching and coaching at the school.
