(KTNC) -- The Falls City Council approved the One-and-Six Year Street Improvement Plan, following a public hearing Tuesday night.
Patrick Malcolm with Olsson Associates presented the plan. Projects on the one-year plan include 33rd Street from Highway 73 west to Barada; three projects that are part of the Champions Crossing Sub-divisionon the north side of Falls City, including extending Abbott Street; a mill and overlay project on 705 Trail on the south side of town; and 21st Street from Fair east to the city limits and north to the airport. That project is being done in conjunction with Richardson County.
The six-year plan includes paving 14th Street from the end of the current pavement to the city limit. A project for 2020 and beyond is extending Burton Street south to Highway 159.
Malcolm said the city’s share of State Highway Trust Fund dollars will increase by 15-percent this year to $433,000, thanks to passage of the Build Nebraska Act. The city will be responsible for matching 25-percent of the funds received.
