(KAIR)--Coffee, doughnuts, and politics were all available as the Atchison Chamber of Commerce held their first of three Legislative Coffee discussions this weekend.
Atchison residents had the chance to meet with three of their state lawmakers in an informal setting Saturday morning to discuss the issues that concern them the most. Democratic Representative Jerry Henry, Republican Representative Randy Garber, and Republican Senator Dennis Pyle were all present to talk about their views on the current issues in Topeka, as well as to answer any questions from their constituents.
Chamber President Jacque Pregont says the Chamber does Legislative Coffee events because it gives the community a chance to get together and talk with their local legislators, and really find out what is going on in Topeka. She adds there are always a lot of issues, and this way, the issues can be brought to them.
Pyle says that he knows people want to know what is going on in the legislature, and with seven counties in his district, he tries to balance getting to different parts of the district at different times.
There are two more events set to take place during this legislative session, with the next one taking place on March 1st.
