(KNZA)--A Mayetta man, injured when attempting to flee from police, takes a trip to the hospital. However, while there, he managed to walk away, only to be captured again.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports 39-year-old Anthony Vicchullo is now behind bars, arrested after he was found at a motel in the 1200 block of Southwest Wannamaker.
He now faces numerous felony charges, including aggravated battery and felony fleeing and eluding.
The charges stem from a brief Topeka pursuit January 14th that ended when Vichullo smashed into an SUV, leaving that driver with serious injuries while earning Vichullo a trip to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. While undergoing treatment, he was not placed under watch, due to the extent of his injuries.
The pursuit began when Vicchullo left a residence under surveillance by police, who then tried to stop him based on an illegal, expired tag and a turn signal violation.
