(KMZA)--A change for the City of Seneca begins at the first of the new year, with the City Council, in the recent past, deciding to select a new electrical power wholesale supplier.
Matt Rehder is the Seneca City Administrator. He says Seneca, which currently receives it's power from the Kansas Power Pool, will instead have that service provided by Energy Management Partners, comprised of nine other cities.
Cost is the key factor for the change, with Rehder saying the Kansas Power Pool expected Seneca to sign onto a 20-year contract, with costs to increase over that period.
Instead of being locked into a long-term, and likely costly plan, the city looked elsewhere leading to the decision to choose the alternative.
