(KTNC) - The Falls City School Board approved the Master Contract with the district’s certified teachers for the 2014-2015 School Year on Monday night.
The contract, which was previously negotiated, includes an increase of $835 in the base salary – to $33,060. The contract also amends the district’s sick leave policy, increases the teacher contract period by two days, and leaves premium rate for health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield the same.
In other action, the board voted to recognize the Falls City Education Association as the bargaining agent for 2015-2016.
The board also approved the first and second reading on a policy revision.
The board will consider refunding the Series 2009 Bonds. Those are the bonds from the High School Renovation. Superintendent Tim Heckenlively presented the board with information about refunding the bonds during his report Monday night.
He said the bonds have been refunded twice already and can be refunded a maximum of three times. The board will consider a resolution to refund the bonds at its January meeting.
There is $1.6 million remaining on the bonds, which are to be repaid in full in 2019.
Heckenlively also told the board that one of the two heat exchangers in a boiler at the Middle School would have to be replaced. The estimated cost of the repair is just over $8,000, plus the cost of the heat exchanger.
