(KNZA)-A car-deer collision in Jefferson County Saturday morning sent a Nortonville woman to the hospital.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Michelle Olberding was traveling east on U.S. 24, about 2 ½ miles east of Perry, when a deer came out from the side of the highway and her Chevy Malibu struck the deer.

Olberding, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

A 7-year-old passenger in the car, Kaley Olberding, was not hurt. The Patrol says she was properly secured in a child restraint seat.

The accident was reported shortly before 11 Saturday morning.
