(KNZA)--The Brown County Sheriffs Department is hosting a car seat check up event on Saturday, at the Sheriff's office at 709 Utah Street in Hiawatha.
Running from 1:00 until 3:00 Saturday afternoon, Sheriff John Merchant says trained technicians, including those from the Kansas Highway Patrol, will be on location to make certain that safety seats are fitted correctly and working properly.
Families in need of car seats, due to financial setbacks, will be provided with one for a fee of $5.00.
Merchant says that money goes towards assisting the car seat program, overseen by KDOT, making sure that more are available for such events in the future.
