Nemaha Co Receives Funding Request from Big Brothers/Big Sisters
(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has received a funding request from the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.
Angie McGuire with the organization met with the commission Monday to make the request. McGuire said they are no longer receiving the Title 5 funding they have received over the last several years. She requested $25,500 from the Broxterman Estate funds to help serve children in Nemaha County with disabilities in 2014. Commissioners took the request under advisement and will make a decision later.
In other business, Nemaha County Training Center Director Alice Lackey met with the commission to inform them that the two furnaces at the Seneca building need to have parts replaced that are no longer being manufactured. Eisenbarth Plumbing, of Seneca, submitted a quote in the amount of $5,864 to replace both furnaces. Following discussion, the commission voted to accept the quote.
The commission will not meet next week on Monday for their regularly scheduled meeting and instead will meet Tuesday morning from 8 to 9 to review end of the month vouchers. Following the meeting, they will be traveling to Wichita to attend the annual Kansas Association of Counties meeting.
