(KMZA)--A Dawson, Nebraska man, already behind bars in Nebraska for a sex crime conviction, has been arrested on a Nemaha County, Ks warrant for rape.
According to Nemaha County Sheriff Rich Vernon, 25-year-old Dominic Pagnano Jr. was arrested Friday in connection with crimes that allegedly began several years ago.
“In 2012, evidence came forward that Pagnano had committed a crime of having sex with a minor in our jurisdiction, “ Vernon says. “These allegations were that between the years of 2009 and 2011 these occurrences had occurred in Nemaha County. Based on that evidence, a warrant was signed by District Judge Weingart. Pagnano has been held in a Nebraska prison. Pagnano was picked up on Friday by Nemaha County Officers and brought back to the Nemaha County Jail.”
Pagnano was booked into the jail where he remains in custody, held on charges of rape and sexual exploitation of a child. Details of the victim of Pagnano's alleged crimes have not been made public.
Acccording to court documents, Pagnano was sentenced to prison in 2010 in Nebraska on two counts of sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography. The sexual assault occurred in 2008 with a 13-year-old girl. Police records say that after the assault, Pagnano sent numerous text messages to the victim asking her to have sex with him. Police also say Pagnano sent similar texts to an 11-year-old girl, but no charges were filed in that case.
As part of his past sentence, Pagnano was required to register as a sex offender for life.
