(KAIR)--Atchison County Community Junior/Senior High school was locked downfor a short period of time Thursday afternoon after a student was injured in the school.
According to district superintendent Steve Wiseman, the injured student was struck by another student, fell, and hit his head on the floor. Wiseman says that school officials acted quickly to aid the student, first calling in the school nurse, then calling in emergency personnel.
Wiseman also states that the district automatically goes into a lock in mode during such situations in order to keep students out of harms way, and to allow medical responders to do their work.
According to Wiseman, law enforcement was called, which is standard procedure in such incidents.
No details regarding the students involved, or an arrest, have yet been made public.
The school's schedule was pushed back somewhat due to the incident, but the school day was soon back on schedule.
