(KAIR)--The city of Atchison has place another restriction in place for the new US 59 Amelia Earnhart Bridge as crews are working to prepare the old bridge for demolition.
According to a statement from the city, no pedestrians are allowed to be on the new bridge until the first implosion is complete this coming Monday, September 30th.
The crews also ask for their safety and that of motorists, that no one stops on the shoulder of the bridge until after the implosion of the new bridge. The new bridge will be closed completely to vehicular traffic from approximately 8 AM to 10 AM the date of the implosions.
Two other implosion dates are tentatively set for Friday October 4th and Monday October 14th. More information for pedestrians regarding restrictions on this date will be provided at a later date.
