(MSC News)--Preying on forthcoming changes to Medicare, another scam is reported locally.
This latest case is reported by a local resident who says the caller, with a foreign accent, claimed to work for Medicare, and knew her and her husband's names and address. The caller then requested her bank account information, which the would be victim refused to provide, leading the caller to hang up
The scam attempt has been reported to the office of the Kansas Attorney General, which states that government Medicare employees would not make such a phone call, conducting all such business by formal mail delivery.
If such a phone call is received, provide the caller with no information, and instead hang up and report the scam attempt to local authorities.
