The Atchison County Commission has finalized their budget for 2014.
County budget consultant Chris Channell says that the property tax levy will increase about .63 mills, which means the owner of a $100,000 home will pay about $7.25 more on the county portion of their tax bill.
The biggest increases were for the road and bridge department, sheriff's department and debt services. Channell said there was a fair amount of money allocated for a new road grader so that various road projects could be completed.
The county IT department also showed an increase in the amount of funding, but Channell explains that's offset by transfers coming into that department.
The commission adopted the 2014 budget following a public hearing Monday.
