A tour of streambank stabilization and riparian buffer projects will be held on August 28th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The tour is FREE and open to the public.
Tour stops will be made at several streambank stabilization and riparian forest buffer projects on the Delaware River. Tour participants will hear landowners talk about they’ve used forestry and stabilization practices to protect valuable farmland and reduce flood damage. Foresters will also discuss these practices and the benefits they provide including future income potential. In addition, methods of stabilizing creek banks will be demonstrated.
A free meal will be provided at the end of the tour. Anyone interested on going on the tour should call 785-284-3422 to register and get more information.
Location: The tour will begin at the corner of 238th and Barton Roads 1 mile north of the community of Arrington. Arrington is located 10 miles east of Holton, KS on Hwy 116 -- WATCH FOR SIGNS.
