(MSC News)--The Kansas Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing in Seneca Monday evening to gather input about the proposed route of the Grain Belt Express Clean Line high voltage electric transmission line.
The hearing will take place at 6 that evening at the Nemaha County Community Building.
The hearing will provide information and give the public a chance to comment on the 35-hundred megawatt direct-current line, which would cross through Marshall, Nemaha, Brown and Doniphan Counties.
Grain Belt Express representatives will also be available at the site of the public hearing from 4 to 6 with detailed maps of the route location and a computer viewing system that can zoom in on the route and individual landowner properties. They will be available to answer questions at that time.
Clean Line Energy Partners filed an application with the KCC on July 15th, which has 120 days to decide whether to approve the route.
The 700-mile long line would begin in southwest Kansas, carrying wind-generated electric power to Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and states farther east.
Public hearings are also set August 14th in Beloit, August 20th in Russell and August 22nd in Kinsley.
In addition, the KCC will accept written comments from the public through August 28th.
