( KMZA )--Discussion continues on the construction of a proposed new Nemaha County Jail.
Jeff Lane and Loren Anderson with Treanor Architects met with the County Commission Monday to talk about the next steps in the process.
They suggested holding a kickoff meeting in August at which time stakeholders would be present to discuss the scope of the project and set goals for the project.
Treanor Architects would then put together a schematic drawing of the new jail for the commission to share with the public.
Commissioners and Treanor Architects agreed on August 26th as the date of the kickoff meeting.
Preliminary plans for a new 34-bed jail that would be connected to the existing law enforcement center were presented to commissioners last month.
The cost of the 110-by-80 foot facility was estimated at $2.5 to $3.5 million.
The current 10-bed jail was built in 1978.
