(KLZA) The annual 4th of July celebration in Humboldt will be held Thursday. The events get underway at 3 p-m with fire truck rides followed by kids games at 5 p-m. The Pork barbecue supper begins at 5 p-m in the air conditioned Ag-Building. At the same time and site there will be ice cream and music by the Happy Czechs. A shuttle is available to ride form the ball park.
The largest fireworks display in Southeast Nebraska sponsored by the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department and Humboldt Chamber will begin at dusk.
The Pawnee County Fairgrounds at Pawnee City will be the host of a July 4th fireworks display at dusk. Gates open at 8 p-m. A free will donation will be accepted for entrance. The fireworks are sponsored by the Pawnee City Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations.
In Auburn the July 4th celebration begins with the 8th annual Nemaha County Veterans pancake feed from 7 – 10:30 a-m at the 4-H Building in Auburn. A free will offering will be accepted for the meal with proceeds used to benefit veterans in need.
Veterans, police officers, firefighters and emergency medical service workers will be honored during the breakfast.
Other events include an 8 p-m ice cream social and at 10 p-m the fireworks display co-sponsored by the Auburn Eagles Club and Auburn Volunteer Fire Department will begin. The fireworks display will be near Auburn High School.
Brownville also has big events planned for the 4th of July.
A Freedom run begins at 7 a-m followed by a breakfast in the Brownville Town Hall at 8 a-m. there will be a dog show at 9 a-m on Lyceum Green and a parade begins at 10 a-m going from 6th Street to 1st Street on Main.
A lunch will be served at the Brownville Town Hall from 11 a-m until 2 p-m. Other events during the day include a children’s tractor pull, the Brownville Museum will be open 1 – 4 p-m. they will have trolley rides starting at 1 p-m and Buggy rides at 2 p-m. The Southeast Community Band Concert will be held at 2 p-m.
There will be a 3 p-m Riverboat ride and at 3:30 p-m there will be a performance of “One Tow in the Grave” at the Brownville Village Theater.
Supper will be served 5 – 7 p-m at the Town Hall. Entertainment featuring Enigma begins at 7 p-m and the fireworks display on the banks of the Missouri River will begin at dusk.
In Tecumseh they are looking for volunteers to help set up the Johnson County Avenue of Flags in the County Courtyard in Tecumseh.
Installation will begin at 6 a-m and a breakfast will be served by the Tecumseh Ladies auxiliary volunteers at the Vets Club following the setting up of the flags.
Flags will be removed at 5 p-m followed by a lunch served by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cook American Legion Post #360. 510 American Flags representing deceased veterans will be displayed.
The City of Tecumseh will shoot off fireworks at the Johnson County Fairgrounds at dusk.
