(KLZA) During a brief meeting Monday night, Falls City Council members unanimously approved a request from Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise to provide electrical, water, sewer services and a street in the Champions Crossing subdivision.
EDGE Executive Director Beckie Cromer explained plans are being finalized to build two homes west of the existing Wilderness Falls addition. ( play audio :20 seconds )
Cromer explained where four lots would be located for new homes. ( play audio :11 seconds )
The cost to the City Utility Department to extend 31st Street west, and provide the utilities is estimated at about $40,000. Cromer explained the plan includes repaying the Utility Department. ( play audio :38 seconds )
The Council conducted two public hearings. One on applying for a Nebraska Affordable Housing Program grant in the amount of $316,250 for homeowner occupied rehabilitation projects. No one spoke during the hearing and the Council approved moving forward with the application for the grant funds.
The other hearing was on a proposed change to a section of the municipal code concerning the use of warehouse type buildings from permitted use, to special exception requiring Council approval. Cromer explained to the Council why the change is being requested. ( play audio :36 seconds )
The Council approved the ordinance change on first reading.
Council members also gave favorable comment to a request from the Spirit Shoppe for a special designated liquor license for a September 14th event at Prichard Auditorium.
