( KNZA )-A longtime Hiawatha city employee is retiring and a reception will be held in her honor Friday.
Jeanette Ward is retiring after 17 years with the city, the last 13 with the Hiawatha Police Department.
A reception will be held in her honor Friday from 11 to 2 in the basement courtroom at the Hiawatha Police Department. The public is invited. The Hiawatha City Hall will be closed from noon to 1 to allow employees the opportunity to attend the reception.
Ward started working for the city of Hiawatha in 1996 as administrative assistant and assistant city clerk at City Hall. In 1999, she moved to the Police Department to take the position of administrative assistant to the police chief and municipal court clerk.
