(KNZA)--The trio accused of playing a role in the fatal shooting of a Mayetta man in January appeared in a Jackson County courtroom Wednesday morning for preliminary hearings, with one entering a plea in the case.
That happened during the appearance of Desiree Shopteese, accused of 2nd degree murder related to the death of Kevin Stanley. However, Shopteese pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of obstruction of apprehension, commonly known as aiding a felon.
Sentencing for Shopteese is now set for the morning of May 24th.
On the recommendation of her attorney, Shopteese bond was reduced from $150,000 to $25,000.
The prelimary hearings for the other two defendants, Steven Eastman and Lloyd Wabaunsee, were continued.
Wabaunsee, charged with 2nd degree murder, is now scheduled to appear on June 7th.
Eastman, accused of transporting Wabaunsee and Shopteese to and from Stanley's Mayetta home at the time of the murder, will appear June 7th.
Eastman is formally charged with aiding or abetting murder in the 2nd degree, obstructing apprehension or prosecution and interfering with law enforcement official duty.
Eastman is currenly free on bond, while Shopteese and Wabaunsee remain jailed in Shawnee County.
