(KAIR) -- A Topeka man has pled guilty to charges as the result of a February high-speed chase in southern Jefferson County.
Kyle Pearson pled guilty to the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine Thursday in Jefferson County District Court.
He was arrested February 12th after a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper tried to stop Pearson’s pickup outside of Topeka because its tag numbers and tail lights were covered.
The pursuit, which also involved the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, stretched through a majority of the county on U-S 24 with speeds reaching as high as 110 miles an hour, and came to a conclusion south of the highway near Williamstown when a deputy bumped the vehicle off the road, causing it to end up in a field and catch fire.
The vehicle was a total loss and Pearson suffered minor injuries.
Sentencing is set for June 6th.
