(KLZA) Saturday will be a busy day in Auburn. The City of Auburn, Peru State College PEAKS and PBL organizations along with the Auburn Chamber of Commerce are hosting an Earth Day Celebration from 8 a-m until noon.
There will be activities for children and adults. Mayor Scott Kudrna encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the day and help out with some of the projects. ( play audio :40 seconds )
The park cleanup event will be held from 8 – 10 a-m. From 9 a-m until noon there will be an electronic recycling collection at 1101 J Street behind City Hall.
The Sidewalk chalk event for children will be from 9 – 9:30 at Legion Memorial Park; the Earth Day 5K Run/Walk event begins at 9 a-m at Auburn High School. The PBL / PEAKS Children’s Field Day for kids in kindergarten through fifth grades will be held at Auburn High School. There will be a children’s concert by “The String Beans” at the Auburn Memorial Library beginning at 10:30 a-m and a hotdog lunch served at 11:30 a-m at the library.
At the electronic recycling event they will accept camera’s, cell phones, computers, copiers and printers, laptops, microwaves, portable electronics, radios, satellite equipment, servers, telephones, toner/ink cartridges, vcr/dvd systems, video game systems, wires, power cords and many other items.
For a fee of $15 televisions may be disposed of and for a $10 fee computer monitors will be accepted.
A free will offering will be accepted from those attending “The String Beans” Concert. Proceeds raised will go towards the remaining loan on the Children’s Addition at the library.
