(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners gave Road and Bridge supervisor Matt Dorssom permission to apply for a grant to help in moving the county’s household hazardous waste collection site.
Currently, the site is located west of Atchison at the recycling center.
With the grant, KDHE will help pay 60 percent for the movement of the site and chemicals to the transfer station on Neosho Road.
Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen says this is a small way to help with cost savings on the solid waste budget.

Commissioners on Monday tabled a request to renew pollution insurance for the next three years.
New to this year’s policy, which is over 40 thousand dollars, is two thousand dollars for terrorism coverage.
Commissioners wanted to examine the specifics and necessity of that part of coverage before making a decision.
