(KLZA) The Grand Opening of the new ballpark complex in Falls City is scheduled for Sunday, April 28th at 2 p-m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Finishing touches are being made now and the hope is for 100 percent completion by the 28th.
Initial discussion on the project started in 2006 with the idea to renovate the current fields or purchase land on the outskirts of Falls City and build a new facility. The plans were finalized in 2009. Since that time nearly $1.8 million has been raised from donors and major contributions from the Richardson Foundation from funds received from the Fiedler Family which led to the name “The Fiedler Family Ball Complex.”
Fields have been named after major donors, Ed and Sandra Hartman, Southeast Nebraska Communications, F & M Bank and the Rod Vandeberg Family.
During the Grand Opening event on April 28th a ribbon cutting ceremony and first pitches will be held on each ball diamond at the complex. The public is encouraged to attend.
In addition to the Fiedler Family Ball Complex, the John and Amalia Morehead field, was completed in 2012 at Grandview Park and was utilized last fall by the Falls City Softball team.
