(KNZA)--A 32-year-old Horton man is sentenced to five years in federal prison for distributing child pornography; and, at the same time, could be sentenced to pay more than two-million-dollars in restitution to the three victims.
The office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says Brandon Hollister earlier plead guilty to the charge; and, in the plea, he admitted to using peer-to-peer file sharing software to download, and share, child pornography online.
A Kansas City FBI agent downloaded 33 image files and 37 video files from Hollister's computer.
Among the images were those of victims who have already been identified by authorities.
Those victims, in the past, requested from the federal government restitution when their images are discovered, saying that each time they are viewed, they are again victimized.
Prosecutors urged the judge to order the restitution, which remains under advisement, due to the permanent impact suffered by the victims, including the cost of therapy.
Defense attorneys for Hollister argued that he was only one of many who downloaded the files.
Hollister is not charged with producing any child pornography.
There's no immediate word on when the judge will make a decision regarding the proposed restitution.
