(KTNC) - Beginning farmers and ranchers in Nebraska can learn a lot from the pros when it comes to developing their operation. Wyatt Fraaz is the Program Manger with the Center for Rural Affairs. The events will feature experienced farmers talking about their practices and markets followed by hands-on training on finances of a start-up operation. The workshops on grazing and grass fed beef are April 3rd at the Holiday Inn Express in Norfolk, April 4th at the UNL Ag Research and Development Center at Ithaca and April 9th at the Ramada Inn in Kearney.
The April 4th workshop will include information from Ralph Tate about how mob grazing is incorporated into his farm near Fairbury and Paul Rohrbaugh of Pawnee Pride Meats in Pawnee City, discussing production and marketing strategies with his grass fed beef operation.
The workshops on fruit and vegetable production will be April 8th at the UNL Extension in Lancaster County, April 12th at the UNL Ag Research and Development Center at Ithaca and April 16th at the UNL Extension in Douglas - Sarpy Counties in Omaha.
The workshops are co-sponsored by UNL Extension. Contact your local UNL Extension office for more information or to register for the workshops. Organizers are asking participants to register three days in advance.
