(KLZA)--Pawnee County Commissioners approved a counter offer from the Pawnee City Council on a law enforcement contract when they met Tuesday.
Commissioners had proposed a three year contract with an annual three percent increase in cost to the city for the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement services for Pawnee City. Council member Deb Klein met with the Commissioners Tuesday, countering with a two percent increase each year of the contract.
Commissioners unanimously approved the three year agreement with the two percent cost increase for the City.
Pam Armknecht with Southeast Nebraska Community Action met with the Board to present a request for $5,612 for the Handi-Bus. That amount is $1,407 higher than last year. The request was approved by Commissioners.
Zoning and Weed Manager Larry Bradbury met with the Board to discuss Sericea Lespedeza which has now been declared a noxious weed by the State. Equipment purchases were also discussed.
Susan Phillips, Terry Brethouwer and Deb Hammon with Southeast Nebraska Community Action met with the Pawnee County Board to discuss services they perform including financial literacy, income tax preparation, weatherization services and head start/Pre-school.
A proclamation declaring May as Community action Month was approved by the Commissioners.
Highway Superintendent, Administrative Assistant Heather Frank and Pawnee County Attorney Jennifer Ladman met with Commissioners to discuss the Pawnee County tree and brush policy.
