(KTNC) - Discounted vehicle entry permits are available through the end of the month for the Nemaha Natural Resources District’s three recreation areas. The permits can be purchased for $10 each through March 31st. The cost increases to $12 beginning April 1st.
You can purchase a duplicate permit, good for a second vehicle in your immediate family, for six dollars when you purchase the full-cost permit.
The permits are required at the Nemaha NRD’s three recreation areas – Kirkman’s Cove near Humboldt, Iron Horse Trail Lake near DuBois, and Wirth Brothers Lake north of Tecumseh.
Permits can be purchased at the Nemaha NRD’s office on Highway 136 east of Tecumseh, by contacting the NRD at 402-335-3325, or by printing an application from the Nemaha NRD’s website (www.nemahanrd.org) and mailing the completed application with payment. Applications postmarked before April 1st will receive the discount.
Annual permits can also be requested through the temporary permit envelopes available at each park’s main entrance.
If you plan to visit one of the recreation areas in the near future, keep in mind that there are restrictions Iron Horse Trail Lake. The park is open, but due to dry conditions last year, boating may be restricted until the lake reaches an adequate level. Fishing is also limited at Iron Horse Trail Lake until the fish grow to a catchable size.
