(KTNC) - Four teenagers escaped a rollover accident with only minor injuries Saturday evening on 240th Street, two miles southeast of Rock Port, Missouri.
The Missouri State Patrol says that 18-year-old Andrew Lingerfelt of Watson, Missouri, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix that went off the road, struck a fence, and rolled onto its top.
Neither Lingerfelt nor any of the three passengers in the vehicle with him – ranging in age from 14 to 17 – were wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred.
Two of the teens were taken by private vehicle to the Fairfax Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Two others, including Lingerfelt, refused medical treatment.
A subsequent investigation led to charges against Lingerfelt. Those include felony counts of distributing a controlled substance to a minor and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. He also was charged with failing to drive on the right side of the roadway, possession of up to 35-grams of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and not wearing a seatbelt.
